CRANKY’s NFL CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES PREDICTIONS

CRANKY’s NFL CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES PREDICTIONS
Football haters there is no need to advise me that you don’t give a dang about football…its fine…lots of people do give a dang.  I don’t feel the need to say I hate subjects when you post on subjects I hate.  (Sorry, just needed a mini rant.)  I still love all you football haters.

LAST WEEKS PLAYOFF PREDICTIONS                        ACTUAL SCORE
      Ravens 27 Patriots 24                            Patriots 35 Ravens 31

     Greenbay 17 Dallas 9                              Greenbay 26 Dallas 21

     Seattle 34 Panthers 14                            Seattle 31 Panthers 17

     Denver 31 Indianapolis 19                      Indianapolis 24 Denver 13

Ok, so I was only 50%.  In fairness, I would have picked the Patriots except I hate the Patriots, and Denver’s QB played with a serious injury that was not revealed until after the game, so really I was almost perfect.

This week’s picks use the same criteria as last week:
                       Weather conditions
                      Game location
                      Uniforms
                     Team names

Seattle Seahawks vs. Green Bay Packers

Weather Conditions – Rain and wet field favors the passing team
Advantage - Packers

Game Location – Seattle is noisiest stadium in the league
Advantage – Seahawks

Uniforms – Seattle has very cool angry bird on their helmet, Greenbay has a “G”
Advantage – Seattle

Team names – Seahawk vs. a Packer…I think packing is automated today
Advantage – Seahawks

Intangible - Packer Quarterback has bad ankle, will not overcome obvious advantages in Seahawks favor.

SCORE:
Seahawks 35 Packers 24

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS VS. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS

Weather Conditions – Both teams are comfortable in the cold.
Advantage – Draw

Game Location – New Englanders are relatively quiet, crowd noise not a factor
Advantage – Draw

Uniforms – Both uniforms are boring, helmets, funny white dude with a star and a horseshoe are both lame.
Advantage – Draw

Intangible – Patriot coach uses the rule book to cheat.
Score:
New England 38 Indianapolis 31 (I hope I’m wrong on this one)

Enjoy the games people, don’t let these final results ruin it for you, sometimes I’m wrong.

Come back next week for my Super Bowl prediction.

  1. Re: the AFC game - you forgot the bit about age and experience ...actually lld age and treachery beating out youth and exuberance.
Well you did hint at treachery.
But what I'm getting at is Brady has tons of experience over Luck.
    OTOH, Indy has Luck.

I don't care who wins any of the games.
Football season is more than a month too long.

  3. I'm rooting for Seattle, which means they'll probably get slaughtered, my predictions being what they are. :)

  5. See, the thing is, you can't "hate" one team or another. I know so very little about the NFL that it has allowed me to sail on through to the play-offs in the football pool. Ignorance is bliss, and all that.

  6. Re: "Both teams are comfortable in the cold". . .

The Colts are a dome team, and dome teams fare notoriously poorly when they have to play outdoors in cold/snow in January. Just sayin'. . .

  8. I picked right along with you and was half right also. Phooey. Agree on the Hawks but really hope you are wrong on the NE/Colts game.

  9. I'm going with the Packers and I sure hope New England is bumped out; was hoping for it last week, but that didn't happen. I like your predictions and how you come to their conclusion.

  10. Seahawks unless their publicity people think they need to change the color of the uniforms at the last minute like the Ducks. (Dumb. dumb move)

  11. I know nothing about football, and to prove it I thought the Ducks were going to win.

  12. Let me know when it's time for the Super Bowl commercials.

  13. I predict a lot of movies on my TV on Superbowl Sunday.

Not that I would know when Superbowl Sunday is.

  14. Okay I'll admit it---I'm not a fan of pro football---but I do love the college teams. I always watch those games. Now the Super Bowl is a different story….I don't mind sitting there for several hours (even though I usually do not have a clue about the teams playing) but the commercials are hilarious. And let's face it, the food and libations are ALWAYS great at a Super Bowl party. I'll be watching again this year---chicken wing in one hand, Mai Tai in the other. Bring on the game!

  15. I'll be honest, I'm just glad Denver is out. I can't stand Peyton Manning.
