SEPTEMBER 12 - 11:40
9/12/17
11:40, a time that will live in infamy in the Cranky home. There was a first and probably a last event on
this date at this time. It will forever
be etched in my memory.
Mrs. C and I
were driving to our dentist office. She
for a scheduled cleaning, me for an emergency broken filling repair. I have been seeing this same dentist for 41
years. Mrs. C has only been once. One trip to anywhere is always enough for
Mrs. C to know the way. Her internal GPS
system is legendary to those who know her.
It is a twenty-minute
drive. We took the back roads and as we reached
the corner of Hardenberg Lane and Oakmont Road it happened.
At 11:40 AM,
Mrs. C asked me, “Do I go left, or
right?”
Never in the
nine years I have known Mrs. C have I ever heard that question. I could only sputter out,
“Excuse me?”
“Left or right, do I turn left or
right here?”
“Wait a minute, I want to savor this.”
“Savor what?”
“You have never, ever, asked me for
directions to anywhere, I just want to savor the moment…OK, turn right.”
“You are such a jerk!”
Oh, no! Say it isn't so!
ReplyDeleteWhat a moment!
ReplyDeleteHer mind must have been on the dentist visit :)
LOL ... it happens to the best of us! Mind you, visits to the dentist would do that to me.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I love it when Tom messes the clutch up or parks and hits the kerb, it makes me feel wonderful. You see, when I make a mistake he makes such a do of it. lol

It sounds like going to the dentist makes her as nervous as the rest of us.
ReplyDeleteIt's like the first time you hear one of us say, "You were right and I was wrong." Kinda special.
ReplyDeleteShe's losing her touch. You need to start worrying here, Joe.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day. ☺
I can't believe that she called you a jerk haha
ReplyDeleteWe will have to go with being nervous about the dentist, because this is a new one for Mrs. C.
She set you up! She was nervous about the dentist, and needed a "JERK!" to release some energy.
ReplyDeleteSuch a rare sweet moment for you. Bet you didn't even feel any pain in the chair.
ReplyDeleteWow! Good thing you have a blog to keep track of events like this! Proof!
ReplyDeleteCha Ching!
ReplyDeleteIt was a fluke! :-)
ReplyDeleteSo that was the slight popping noise I heard down here, coming from the northeast, at 11:40 on Tuesday...
ReplyDelete9/12/17 A day that will live in infamy!!
ReplyDeleteThat's what you get for "savoring" the moment. Actually, having followed your blog for years now, I don't think of you as a jerk. Of course I'm not married to you.
ReplyDeleteThe struggle is real isn't it.
ReplyDeleteHahaha!
ReplyDeleteBy all means, enjoy the moment over and over and over and...
ReplyDeleteThat was a kind of jerky response but I can understand why you wanted to savor the moment.
