A SAD GOODBYE

A SAD GOODBYE

I just read the post of a blogging friend from down under.  It is something I love about the blogging community.  We make friends with people we never meet.  We make friends with people from all over the world.  We enjoy their children and grandchildren.  We become friends but we will never meet.

Some of my friends piss me off from time to time; most of the time they entertain me.  Some are funny as hell, some are educational.  Some are philosophical, some are ultra-religious.  I have some older blogger friends; I have some who are just starting out life on their own.  I consider all to be my friends.

This post I just read was this friend’s last post.  He is too weak to write another.  He is putting his life in order and is planning his last Christmas with his family.  That this friend could take any of the precious time he has left to make a final post and wish all his blogger friends well is really touching.  It says something about this community of ours.  This community brings me much pleasure.

Now it brings me great sadness.  So long my Aussie friend who I have never met.  Whenever I hear about the Aussie “Drop Bear” I will think of you.

  4. I'm so sorry to hear this. I know the feeling well from when we lost Moannie earlier this year. The connections are real.

  7. It is so good that he wrote that last post so people could say their goodbyes and not just wonder what had happened to him. Our blog friendships are real and I am sorry for your loss.

  9. How sad, but how lovely that he took the time to say goodbye.

  10. This community is precious in many ways. A dear woman I never actually met, Moannie, just passed away a bit over a month ago. I felt as though I knew her intimately. Her daughter had commentary from a few different bloggers, including me, read at her service. I was highly honored. And, as I say, we had never actually ever met face-to-face.

    My sincerest condolences.
