Well the Yankees squeaked out the Wild Card win against the Oakland A’s. They won 7-2. Why is that a squeaker? Because there is no clock in baseball. The game is never over until that last out, and if you are a fan you have seen your team lose a big lead in the ninth inning many times. All games are squeakers until they are over. This is true against very good teams like the A’s and it is especially true against the Red Sox.
No lead is
enough in Fenway Park, and no team knows how to use that park to their
advantage better than the home team Sox .
So it is the
Yankees versus the Red Sox.
I don’t like
that we had to win a wild card game to get here, but in the old days it would
have been the Red Sox win the pennant and season over, so the wild card system
is not so bad.
RT - We used to say Yankees “against” the
Red Sox, or the Yankees “playing” the Red Sox but now it is “versing.” I did a double take the first time one of my
kids asked me before a LL game, “Who are
we versing today?”
It should be
a good series. Home field advantage goes
to the Sox and Fenway is a big advantage.
If we face the July/August Red Sox it will be a short series, the Red Sox were unbeatable in July/August. It may be interesting though as when a team wins going away like the Sox did this year, sometimes they lose that competitive edge of adrenaline and it does not always come back easily (wishful thinking.)
Fenway Park, a great Iconic Stadium |

Mrs. C is
rooting for the Red Sox so she doesn’t have to put up with my fan
craziness. I may yell a bit at the TV
from time to time.
Mrs. C simply
says, “You know they can’t hear you don’t
you?”
Yes, I do
know. Doesn’t stop me.
Being a fan
just makes no sense. Fans are crazy. When a homerun is hit fans start pumping their
fist and hollering like they just did something. They have a “Take that attitude” and
act all tough and macho…it is really stupid.
I am that
fan!
So for a few
days at least Mrs. C will have to put up with it.
She will
call me a jerk.
She may be
right.
GO YANKEES!
Happy Faniversary to you, Happy Faniversary to you, Happy Faniversary JoeHHHHH, Happy Faniversary to you! Enjoy your series! Best of luck to the Yankees while they're "versing" the Red Sox.
ReplyDeleteGo Yankees! It's okay to be a little bit crazy.
