My job is to proofread engineering reports...

But I know the difference between professionally written reports and quickly posted comments on social media or short texts on cell phones. While I'm anal retentive about trying to be correct in quick posts and texts, I'm very forgiving with mistakes that other people make.Pixel Peeperhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17553862902461169270noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-968059214758329257.post-55891331832958317012019-05-24T04:23:18.067-04:002019-05-24T04:23:18.067-04:00Spelling is important to me and sometimes I do cor...Spelling is important to me and sometimes I do correct people's spelling, but usually by using the word correctly spelled in my comment. I don't think being unable to spell makes someone unintelligent just as those who can spell aren't always highly intelligent. I'm usually able to work out what is meant and just read on.Riverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14794655013673748992noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-968059214758329257.post-56199423218493495762019-05-23T22:09:06.074-04:002019-05-23T22:09:06.074-04:00I've never corrected anybody's spelling. I used to be able to tell when something looked wrong even though I then had to look it up in a dictionary. Now, of course, I just have to scan for the red lines and click the correction.Olgahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00692441479616299920noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-968059214758329257.post-90304284502494095332019-05-23T14:14:07.682-04:002019-05-23T14:14:07.682-04:00Yeah! Start with the works of Silence Dogood, and work out from there. You will quickly find that English is not so formal (and boring) as we've distorted it out to be but is rather a 'living' language that continues to gain new spellings as well as new words. Have even more fun and research the origins of Webster's dictionary. It was originally created as a scandalous book to distinguish American English from British English following the Revolutionary war. Webster captured differences but also created some of his own to add to the distinctiveness.

And while none of us is any kinda Shakespeare, don't forget that he (they, if you believe the rumors) created over 400 new words pretty much out of thin air. You're not a poor speller, you're an linguistic unheralded innovator!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-968059214758329257.post-62066333925031870452019-05-23T11:39:49.983-04:002019-05-23T11:39:49.983-04:00I'm laughing at Bijoux's comment. I on the other hand am a great speller, but I still think I have a bit of intelligence :) Its the nature of my job to look for grammar mistakes and misspelled words. I caught the ones in your post. I also catch the ones in articles in newspapers, advertisements, etc. Its a curse I think to be a good speller. You can't enjoy life, always looking for the word spelled incorrectly.

bettybettyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06323135450742337670noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-968059214758329257.post-57413972778794138632019-05-23T08:47:33.263-04:002019-05-23T08:47:33.263-04:00I would actually watch a spelling bee between pres...I would actually watch a spelling bee between presidential candidates over a debate.Bijouxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05788630004051883635noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-968059214758329257.post-4972102838914172492019-05-23T08:36:24.805-04:002019-05-23T08:36:24.805-04:00When i see a word spelled incorrectly i simply ass...When i see a word spelled incorrectly i simply assume a typo and move on, since we all make typos on occasion.messymimihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10649529601786689712noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-968059214758329257.post-18705260625036011672019-05-23T02:02:18.618-04:002019-05-23T02:02:18.618-04:00I have read your post twice and did not find any i...I have read your post twice and did not find any incorrect spellings.

God bless.Victor S E Moubarakhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04280638667651857296noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-968059214758329257.post-26220605228156080972019-05-23T00:07:38.971-04:002019-05-23T00:07:38.971-04:00Omgosh, right???
