Even after living in the States and using an American typewriter, I would mess up with those two letters - but, curiously, only if I wrote in German. Luckily we have computers now, and I can even type the German umlaut, ä, ü, and ö, if I remember the correct finger acrobatics for them. :-)Pixel Peeperhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17553862902461169270noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-968059214758329257.post-53487104972938979912018-04-27T06:40:23.946-04:002018-04-27T06:40:23.946-04:00my hubby used typewriter when he was in his first ...my hubby used typewriter when he was in his first job ,this office also has typewriter though but mostly the official work is done through computers .

thank you for this post specially for letting us know how brilliant was your mom in typing!!!

i agree with her that new machine was cheating to her skills bailihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06498012175058870980noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-968059214758329257.post-2818358544020587842018-04-24T16:07:02.360-04:002018-04-24T16:07:02.360-04:00One of the offices I worked in had a typewriter tu...One of the offices I worked in had a typewriter tucked away in the copy room. I hated the rare occasion when I had to use that thing! It wasn't often, just for a few forms, but I hated it. I worked out a deal with a co-worker where I used the postage machine for her and she used the typewriter for me.

Hubby learned to type on a typewriter, and he types much harder than I do (I learned on a computer). I could do, on a good day 30 wpm clean, mostly 25 wpm.

When I tested for an office job, using a computer, I was at 67 wpm (including back-deleting and correcting my work.) Okay, sold me on using word processors.

But there was a certain elegance and precision to using a typewriter that is lacking in today's keyboarding. Something about having to actually think of what you are writing and the permanence and lack of it compared to today's electronic world where even your mistakes are tracked by someone somewhere.Andrewnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-968059214758329257.post-5591699182274417452018-04-23T15:03:36.263-04:002018-04-23T15:03:36.263-04:00Yes I took typing in high school.
