UH HUH

UH HUH

I think I could carry on any conversation with my wife and she could get by without using any words, only two sounds…  “Heah”, and “Uh huh.”

Both have multiple meanings depending on accent and intonation.  None of the meanings are good.

“Heah” can mean “I don’t think so,” “think again,” “maybe,” “probably not,” “when pigs fly,” or “you are such a JERK!”

“Uh huh” means “yeah right,” “no way,” “whatever you say…not,” “I’m not really listening,” “blah, blah, blah,” or “You are such a JERK!”

My wife only speaks one language, but she can say JERK in so many ways.

Sometimes she just signs it.

  1. Watch out for those two sounds. She's probably saving her breath for a really big "you're a jerk" announcement.

  2. Thanks for the smile, or perhaps I should be thanking your wife!

  3. I used to watch Duck Dynasty, where the family patriarch would just nod and say "uh huh" when his wife got into a rolling one-sided conversation. My wife has told me to please not completely ignore her when I didn't want to listen to what she was saying, but to do what Phil Robertson does to Miss K in that situation, just nod and say "uh huh". Imagine...I have PERMISSION to watch football while she yaps so long as I nod and say uh huh. :)

  4. Haha. My "uh huh" always means I haven't heard a word you said. Hahaha.

  5. We women are very talented that way. I love how she gets the jerk part out every time. Bless her heart.

Have a fabulous day Cranky. My best to Mrs. C. ☺

  6. Hey! You could be misreading that sign! She may actually be telling you that you're "number one" in her book.

  7. Got tickled at her "signing" JERK. So that was what that guy meant when I cut him off.

  9. She sounds like a woman who can give the look very well, too.

  10. When she signs "jerk" does she extend her middle finger?

  11. is the sign for JERK a recognized sign in the American Sign Language dictionary? I just looked it up...and it only has a sign for "jerk" as in "making a sudden movement" like a knee-jerk reaction. So I think Mrs. Cranky, when she does that sign for "jerk", is actually saying something else!

  12. Maybe her words are just muffled because she is eating a hidden brownie...

  13. You should tell her jerk is as jerk does.
Or maybe, "I'm rubber you're glue, what you say bounces off of me and sticks to you."
    That'll get her told :)
