BRAGGERS

BRAGGERS

 216 AVERAGE!

You know who I hate?  Braggers!  People who just have to let you know how smart their kids are, how much money they make, how good they are at this and how good they are at that.  I hate those people.

Oh I could brag.  Yes I could; for instance the last two weeks in my bowling league I have averaged 216.  I have bowled 7 games in a row with no score lower than 203.  That’s pretty good for a 180 bowler.  That’s pretty good for a 67 year old man, but do I brag about it?  Hell no.

People don’t want to hear about how good you are, how smart your kids are or how much money you make.  People don’t even want to know that in the last two weeks you had a 638 and 658 bowling series.

So what?  Why would I brag about that?  Sure a 216 bowling average is good, but no one wants to hear about it, so I don’t tell anyone.

After all, who likes a braggart?

  1. Even when I bowled on a regular basis I didn't ever have that kind of average. So congrats on not bragging about that accomplishment.

  2. I hear you, bro. Just like I don't brag about shooting 82 on my last round of golf. *Never mind I skipped the hole with the little windmill* :)

  3. ha ha. reminds me of some of those 'form' christmas letters folks send - about how great their life is, how perfect their kids are, blah, blah, blah...

  4. Big LOL!

I can handle 30 seconds of bragging, but after that my gagging reflexes need major control.

Way to go with the bowling. Hope you can repeat it.

  5. I think you're eligible for The Tongue-in-Cheek award. I have nothing to brag about. Period.

  6. I would never brag about that kinda bowling, too. Nope, I wouldn't call my kids and closest friends to tell them all about it, frame by frame. Nope, not me.

Congratulations! That is fantastic. Next thing we know you'll be going pro.

  9. I'm glad you set us straight on your stand on this vital subject.
    And about the bowling--well done.

  10. I hate bragging, too. Like people who put how many words they've written each day on Facebook, etc. And ditto on the Christmas letters, they should be simple and just with every one happy holidays.

  11. Haha! Love it.

And I would never brag about... um... oh man, gots to write me a bragging list. I'll be back.

  12. You crack me up, Cranky! Delighted to see you so modest and humble about such bowling triumphs! :-) Personally I believe that we need to brag ourselves up a little now and then, remind the other folks that we are just pretty darn cool!

  14. I don't like people who brag, but I put up with them anyway.
I will brag when my husband challenges me that women can't do this or that. Then on my achievement I say "HA"
